Isometrics
Linda McCrea, Ed. D, NCLMBT
October 13-14
Sat/Sun 9 AM - 6 PM
16 CE hours
$285
$255 (advance registration by October 1st)
In this class "isometric" and "isotonic" techniques are presented and practiced for working with inefficient muscular tension patterns, as well as for underdeveloped muscle tone throughout the body. Using gentle restraining movement while the muscle is engaged, self-correcting reflexes are stimulated, and habitual holding patterns can be released. Participants learn how the conscious use of resistance can help promote change from rigid physical patterns to greater mobility. This way of working invites the client to actively participate in the session. [*Either "Essentials I" or "Phase 4 Basics" is a prerequisite for this class.]
"Ortho-Bionomy is a gentle approach to bodywork that works! It's easy to blend in with other practices and it has minimal impact on your body as a practitioner." -D.A., Brevard, NC

Siddha Hot Oil Massage
Bob Counts, LMBT
October 13, 14, 2007
Sat/Sun 9 AM - 5 PM
15 CE hours
$200
Siddha Massage has been practiced in Southern India for thousands of years. Warm herbal oil and specific stroking techniques for different parts of the body facilitate and maximize the energy flow through the meridians and energy points. The palm of the hands are used exclusively to massage the muscle fibers perpendicularly and to generate heat and static electricity. This encourages the release of neuropeptides, neurotransmitters, and opiates. This technique is indicated for muscle fatigue, aches and pain, trauma, arthritis, longevity, stress relief, and adrenal exhaustion.
Students will be introduced to the history of Siddha Viadya Medicine from the ancient Dravian Culture of NW India of 7000 years past. All students will receive and give at least two sessions of Siddha Massage. This ancient modality was and is used for stress relief when individuals reach a burnout phase in their life and throw their hands up in desperation. These soothing rhythmic strokes assist the rejuvenation of the entire nervous system and physical body.

Energy Medicine for Light Bodies
Praji Sakata
October 27, 28, 2007
Sat/Sun 9 AM - 6:15 PM
16 CE hours
$275
$250 (two weeks in advance)
This workshop provides the foundational practices, insights, and knowledge required for working within the multi-dimensional fields of the Light body. Intuition and skills will be developed for listening, sensing, detecting, discerning, clearing, aligning and balancing these subtle energy bodies, meridians, and chakras.
We will show how the Subtle Energy Anatomy is a “blueprint” for the physical body and how whatever the physical is experiencing will be readily detected in the subtle bodies first and foremost. This is where energetic corrections need to be made. In particular, we will focus on opening and aligning the subtle energy meridians to promote emotional stability, physical health, and spiritual healing. There are also spiritual-ethics involved in opening, closing, and working within the subtle energy fields and these basic principles will be applied.
Self-care practices will be demonstrated for keeping our Light rejuvenated.
Energy Medicine for Light Bodies:- Insights & science of how subtle energy heals
- Basic energy medicine practices & guidelines
- Hands-on techniques to align the chakras & meridians

Massage Cupping
Annie Garic,
October 27, 28, 29
Sat/Sun/Mon 9 AM - 5:30 PM
22 CE hours
$395
Massage Cupping™ bodywork therapy is an exciting modern adaptation of the ancient art of cupping therapy. Cupping is a subtle, yet powerful addition to any healthcare practice and complements many healing modalities. This technique is also easily used at home for treating many common conditions.
Through several thousand years of clinical experience, the therapeutic applications of cupping have been documented. By creating suction and negative pressure, cupping is used to: drain excess fluids and toxins, loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue, bring blood flow to stagnant skin and muscles and stimulate the peripheral nervous system.

Healing Music: How It Works And How To Use It
Doug Bennett
Michele Skeele
November 3 & 4, 2007
Sat/Sun 9 AM - 6 PM
16 CE hours
$225
$200 (2 weeks in advance)
This workshop is for people who want to know more about how music interacts with our health, who want to play music for friends or family who are recovering or dying and for health care practitioners, including massage therapists, who want to use music to improve their client's experience in their office.
The first day of the workshop is for information. Learn how sound and music interact with our bodies, minds and spirits. Music affects us at all levels, from cells up to our spiritual connections. We will also look at the role the musician plays in the healing effects of music. These effects are becoming well researched, but current, conventional science cannot explain how many of those things work. The quantum revolution is catching up to the life sciences and that provides mechanisms for some of the effects of music and the musician. In the first day you will learn many of the ways that music and musicians can contribute to healing. We will use the latest research in quantum effects in living systems to explain the mechanisms of music's benefits.
The second day you will have an opportunity to apply that new knowledge. We will select, listen to and play healing music for different situations. The day is intended for both musicians and non-musicians. Musicians will have an opportunity to try out techniques for playing music in healing situations. Non-musicians will have an opportunity to receive those musical treatments. Everyone will have an opportunity to build a play list for his or her specific needs, whether personal or professional. When the musician is present, he or she can contribute significantly to the healing effect of the music. We will explore what we can to, as a musician or as a non-musician practitioner, to maximize that effect.
